
A Vegan diet is very strict and highly disciplined. It is a diet composed largely of vegetables and grains and other foods like olive oil and sunflower seed oil derived from vegetables or grains. Vegans do not consume animal proteins of any sort. This is not just about omitting meat but milk, butter, eggs and all other dairy products. The good news is that it’s not hard to make a vegan pizza crust and pizza, but certain ingredients have been omitted from the standard pizza crust recipe. The vegan pizza recipe included here is a suggestion. You can top with any of your favorite vegan ingredients including a vegan cheese made from soy milk and soy powder. The Daiya® brand is the best for pizza because it melts nicely.
Add the ingredients to the bread pan in the order indicated. The only thing omitted from the traditional pizza dough is the addition of dry milk. If your machine does not have a pizza dough setting you can use the standard dough setting, but take the dough out about half way through the rising cycle.
Set on the pizza dough setting and when done, remove and cut into 2 or 4 chunks and roll out the dough.
Preheat oven to 425° F.
Top the pizza crust with the ingredients in the order indicated beginning with the tomato sauce and a teaspoon of oregano and finishing with a teaspoon sprinkle of the oregano over the top.
Bake at 425° F. for 20 to 25 minutes or until edges of crust start to brown. Slice and serve
