Pound Cake Recipe

Nicely sweet with a crumbly texture. This is a classic dessert bread and is great with coffee or tea. It’s easy to make and like most batter breads uses baking powder in place of yeast. The Pound cake will rise in the machine as it approaches the end of the baking cycle.

Don’t forget to do the standard batter bread test and insert a wooden skewer into the center of the loaf to make sure it’s done. If the skewer emerges wet from unbaked batter, let it rest in the bread machine for another ten minutes or remove and finish in the oven until it passes the skewer test.

I don’t have a cake setting. I use quick bread setting and I turns out great

Thanks, excellent. Thats the educated answer I wanted, instead of just one that suggests using the breadmaker for just mixing ingredients and then baking them on an oven. Mixing the ingredients is the easiest part. I would rather mix them by hand if I’ll end up using an oven for baking the cake.

As someone who bakes a lot, the best way to bake a pound cake is at a lower temp and for longer, you get a better cake doing this, if your using a Bundt cake pan for your pound cake, bake at 325 for 90 minutes. Do not use convect or you will dry out or burn your cake. And always grease your pan or they will stick bad and the cake will break.

I suffer from celiac disease but am an expert gluten free pound cake Baker.

      This is a reliable recipe,

3 cups Bob’s red Mill 1-1 gluten free flour
      1/2 teaspoon baking soda
      1/2 teaspoon salt
      1 cup buttermilk
      2 sticks unsalted butter (softened)
      2 cups sugar
      3 eggs

You can add in lemon extract or vanilla etc if you want to flavor it.

Mix together untill you have a nice batter and bake in a Bundt cake pan for 90 minutes @325 fahrenheit DO Not Use Convect Bake!

Make sure you grease the pan or it will stick badly.

      Hi Tammy,

You can make the batter for a cake bread using a cookie dough or pasta dough setting. If all you have is a basic dough setting, use that but pour out the batter before it goes into the risig cycle. To bake, preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 45 to 60 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center to test for doneness. If the toothpick emerges wet, bake for another 10 minutes and retest until the toothpick emerges dry.

Is the baking temp 425 or is that a misprint?

Cake breads are usually baked at 400 to 425 degrees F.
