Outbreak Steakhouse Bread Recipe

Yields1 Serving

There are some classic steakhouse breads that typically have a dark texture and crust and a soft sweetness that goes great with hearty main dishes like steak or pork.  This recipe is both darkened and sweetened by dark molasses and the addition of cocoa.  It’s a yeast bread with a significant amount of yeast that can be easily made in your bread machine from start to finish.  It also calls for a combination of rye flour and all-purpose flour.

INGREDIENTS:
Proofing Step Ingredients
¼ cup of water at 110 degrees Fahrenheit/43 degrees Celsius to proof the yeast
 3 ½ teaspoon of yeast
 1 ½ teaspoons of sugar
Remaining Loaf Ingredients
1/2 cup of water at 110 degrees Fahrenheit/43 degrees Celsius
 1 ½ teaspoons of salt
 1 tablespoon of cocoa
 ¼ cup of dark molasses
 1 tablespoon of oil
 1 cup of rye flour
 1 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour
DIRECTIONS:
1

Add the proofing ingredients to the bread pan and let rest for 6-minutes until you see some small bubbles.

2

Put all of the ingredients in the bread pan in the order indicated in the ingredients list on top of the proofed yeast solution and select the wheat bread setting for a 1-pound loaf and a dark crust.

3

When done, remove from the bread pan and let rest for 10 minutes on a wire rack. Slice and serve.
