Who can say no to high fiber?. Its benefits go beyond regularity to heart health. And guess what? You can make a great high fiber bread in your bread machine! Start to finish.
The ingredients are a bit ambitious, but you can find them in most grocery stores. A key process step is proofing the yeast. All you have to do is combine the first 3 ingredients in the bread pan and let them sit for 15 minutes before adding the other ingredients. This creates a good rise to this bread because of the low-gluten, high-fiber ingredients.
This bread is good with any meal either as a side to a robust dish with gravy or toasted at breakfast.
Add the water, molasses and yeast to the bread pan and let sit for 15 minutes until the yeast begins to bubble.
Add the remaining ingredients and select the wheat bread setting.
When the rising cycle is complete and before the baking cycle begins top the dough with some flax seed and oatmeal.
When done remove the loaf from the bread pan and let rest on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
Slice and serve.
