This recipe is a cinch because you can add all of the ingredients at the beginning and let it go for a great result. You can mix and match any combination of herbs you want as long as they don’t exceed three tablespoons as the recipe indicates.
This bread is great with a salad, soups or as a side pasta dishes or other savory meals. The parmesan incorporates into the dough and gives it a lightly salty richness. This is also a great bread for dipping into olive oil with your favorite additions like pepper flakes or yes –more parmesan.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/3 cups warm water (110° F.)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves crushed garlic or 1 teaspoon of dried garlic
3 tablespoon combination of basil, chives, oregano, and rosemary (can be fresh or dried but double up to 6 tablespoons if you’re using fresh. You can use any combination of herbs you like but stay true to the measures)
4 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
DIRECTIONS:
1Add ingredients to the bread machine in the order indicated in the recipe or the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select the wheat cycle, medium crust and 2-pound loaf setting. You can add all of the ingredients including the savory ingredients at the outset, so you don’t have to wait for a beep to add the parmesan and the herbs.
