This is a great recipe for garlic lovers. It’s loaded with garlic through and through both as an ingredient and a topping. Garlic powder is added to the bread dough and sliced garlic is placed on top of the loaf after rising and before baking.
A traditional accompaniment to pasta dishes and sauces or simply served on the side with a salad.
Add all of the ingredients to the bread pan in the order indicated in the recipe and select the basic or white bread cycle for a 1.5 pound loaf and the dark crust setting.
Begin the cycle but be watchful for the end of the kneading cycle. Many machines will beep at this point. Redistribute the dough into an even shape in the bread pan and top with the sliced garlic before the rising cycle begins.
When the bread is done remove it from the bread pan and let it rest for 10 minutes. Slice and serve.
You may need to run a rubber spatula along the sides of the bread pan to release any garlic pieces that have caramelized and stuck to the side of the bread pan.

There water and butter in recipe
This turned out perfect. Very good. Will make again.
I believe you left a liquid out of this recipe. I made this recipe, and it was pretty much just garlicky flour by the end of the bread maker’s cycle. There’s nothing wrong with my maker either; I make on average, two loaves of bread a week. I think there should be milk or something in this recipe.
If the one cup of water indicated isn’t enough, add a tablespoon of water at a time to get the dough to the consistency you like.
Do you feel it needed more than the cup of water at the top of the recipe? I’m looking for a good garlic bread recipe, and I always check the comments to see if the recipe was improved by any cooks!
