Brownies Recipe

Yields1 Serving

Everybody loves brownies and your bread machine can make this recipe easier using the cookie dough setting to make the brownie batter, and the bread dough setting to make the chocolate frosting. Brownies are great any time of day and are a great winter treat especially when they’re served warm from the oven.

½ cup of softened butter (room temperature)
 2 eggs
 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
 1 teaspoon of salt
1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
 ¼ teaspoon of baking powder
 1 cup of white sugar
 ½ cup of all-purpose flour
Frosting Ingredients:
3 tablespoons of softened butter (room temperature)
 1 tablespoon of honey
3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
 1 cup of confectioner’s sugar
Brownie Batter Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F./175 degrees C. Butter or oil an 8-inch baking pan.

Add the ingredients for the batter to the bread machine pan and select the cookie dough setting or the pasta dough setting or the pizza dough setting. You could use the basic dough setting if that’s all you have on your bread machine, but remove the batter after the kneading cycle and before the rising cycle begins. Batters made with baking powder don’t need to rise.

When the batter is done use a plastic, baking spatula to spoon the batter into the baking pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F./175 degrees C for 25 to 30 minutes. Don’t overcook or the brownies will be too dry. While the brownies are baking, prepare the frosting.

Frosting Directions:

Wash out the bread pan and add the frosting ingredients. Select the basic dough setting and run. The basic dough setting has a rising cycle that adds heat to the bread pan and will help to melt and incorporate the chocolate and butter in the frosting. Check from time to time to see if the frosting is blended and creamy. You don’t have to run the full cycle if the frosting looks done.

After the brownies are done, let them rest in the pan for 10 minutes to cool down a bit, and then spread the frosting using a plastic baking spatula. Let the frosting set for 5 minutes, slice and serve.
