Maple Syrup Bread RecipeBy Steve NubieThis bread was inspired by Canadians where you’ll find both maple syrup and wheat in abundance. But they didn’t stop there and added everything from nutmeg and cinnamon to powdered sugar, butter and raisins. Lots of raisins. The result is a highly flavorful white bread with a very good nutritional profile and the added accent (and Vitamin-C) of a tablespoon of either grated lemon peel or orange peel.Pomegranate Jelly RecipeBy Steve NubiePomegranates originated in the Middle-east, but they have found their way into markets and grocery stores around the world. Widely touted for their health benefits, pomegranate juice makes a delicious jelly and it’s easy to make in your bread machine assuming you have a dedicated jam and jelly setting. If you don’t have this setting a jam or jelly recipe won’t work. The Jam and Jelly setting cooks the jelly at a hotter temperature for a longer duration to allow the sugars and pectin to completely gel before you pour it into canning jars. All of the other bread settings don’t achieve this higher temperature nor the duration needed to make a jam or jelly. Pineapple Jam RecipeBy Steve NubieThis is a very simple jam recipe and your bread machine can make it surprisingly easy. This recipe will only work with bread machines that have a dedicated Jam and Jelly setting. This setting achieves a very high temperature for a long duration which allows the sugars and potentially the pectin to gel. If you don’t have a dedicated jam and jelly setting on your machine, this recipe won’t work. All of the other settings for breads don’t achieve sufficient temperature nor time to make a jam or jelly.Tomato Jam RecipeBy Steve NubieThis Tomato jam recipe is easy to make in your bread machine assuming you have a dedicated jam and jelly setting. Many bread machines do. If you don’t have this setting this jam recipe won’t work. All of the other bread settings won’t achieve a higher temperature nor the duration needed to make a jam or jelly. Hot Pepper Jelly RecipeBy Steve NubieIt seems to be a contradiction but if you like things sweet and sour wait until you taste hot and sweet. This recipe combines the sweetness of sugar with finely diced hot peppers. You can use any hot pepper you like. I prefer jalapenos.Orange Marmalade RecipeBy Steve NubieOrange Marmalade is easy to make in your bread machine assuming you have a dedicated jam and jelly setting. Many bread machines do. If you don’t have this setting this jam recipe won’t work. The Jam and Jelly setting cooks the marmalade at a hotter temperature for a longer duration to allow the sugars to completely gel before you pour it into canning jars. All of the other bread settings won’t achieve a higher temperature nor the duration needed to make a jam, jelly or marmalade.Onion Jam RecipeBy Steve NubieIt may come as a bit of a surprise, but onions make a great jam. Onions are naturally sweet and loaded with natural sugars. The key is to gently saute them until they are caramelized to release and concentrate the sugars. Brown sugar is also added along with some other ingredients. Butter Croissants RecipeBy Steve NubieCroissants are a light and airy pastry that are usually topped with a spread of jelly or butter and is sometimes filled with slices of cheese or meat. It’s a classic breakfast bread but shows up at meals all day long. Spinach Bread RecipeBy Steve NubieSpinach bread is a basic white bread recipe but when you see this bread it’s anything but white. The final color of the loaf is a fresh and deep green with hints of spinach flavor. Many people think of this as a classic for St. Patrick’s Day, but spinach bread is a great side for soups, salads and makes a dramatic sandwich bread.Masa Harina Cake Bread RecipeBy Steve NubieMasa Harina bread is a classic Mexican version of cornbread. It’s actually a batter bread which uses baking powder and baking soda as a rising agent instead of yeast. However, the bread doesn’t rise before baking but towards the end of the baking cycle in the oven.Summer Squash Cake Bread RecipeBy Steve NubieSummer squash is defined as certain squash varieties that mature during the summer months. Some of these summer squash varieties are fairly common including variations on zucchini ranging from green to yellow zucchini, the common yellow squash, crookneck squash and Pattypan squash. There are also some obscure varieties like Zephyr, Tatuma, Zinda and Cousa. An easy rule of thumb is that if it’s available in the grocery store or markets in summer it’s a summer squash.Dijon Rye Bread RecipeBy Steve NubieFor some reason the idea of Dijon mustard and rye bread just seem to go together. This is a particularly hearty rye made with cottage cheese, butter and an egg with a blend of both yeast and baking soda. Mustard seeds in the dough and as a topping add to the overall dill flavor.
