5. Digital Baking Scale
Professional bakeries don’t use cups and spoons as measures. All of their recipes are measured by weight in grams. The advantage is that certain factors like humidity and the granularity of some flours can make even a leveled measuring cup inaccurate from one day to another. If you want to bake like the pros and guarantee a great result every time, consider a digital baking scale to weigh and measure your ingredients. We have an article on the website to help you convert cups and spoons to grams.
Here are a few popular options, among many other Digital Baking Scales at Amazon.com.

6. Measuring Cups and Spoons
You don’t really have to weigh your baking ingredients. Measuring cups and spoons do a fine job, but precise measures are critical. That’s why there are dedicated measuring cups for both liquids and solids. The liquid cups are usually transparent and have the measures marked in fractions.
The dry measure cups are usually made from an opaque material and have flat tops. The flat surface is to allow you to drag the back of a knife over the edge to get exactly the measure that the cup indicates on its handle. Measuring spoons also have a flat top and also have the size of the spoon marked on the handle.

8. Flour Canisters
I bake with a variety of flours. Bread flour, all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, rye flour, corn flour, gluten free flours, the list goes on. But few of us bake with every flour every day. That means that many flours sit in the pantry in open and folded flour bags. And sometimes sit and sit and sit. A good way to keep your flours safe from moisture or worse, invasive kitchen moths and grubs, is to store any flour in an air-tight canister. Some are designed to look good on the counter while others are designed for the pantry. That’s up to you but a flour cannister is a good idea.

9. Baking Pan Options
Baking pans will wear out over time. Especially if you bake a lot of bread. There are a few common things that cause a baking pan to need replacing.
- The kneading paddle scrapes off the non-stick coating at the bottom of the pain after repeated use.
- The ball bearings around the spindle in the base of the pan get clogged or simply wear out.
- The pan is dropped and dented and won’t seat back into the bread machine properly.
Some bread machines that bake a 2-pound horizontal loaf give you the option to bake two 1-pound loaves at the same time with a split bread pan. Zojirushi machines are known for their horizontal pans and they offer the double 1-pound pan as well.
Your manufacturer’s instruction book will identify the make and model of your machine and you can order a replacement on Amazon.com.
10. Bread Machine Kneading Paddles
This is less of an accessory as much as it’s a necessity. It is surprisingly easy to lose the kneading paddle from your bread machine.
The most common occurrence is when the paddle gets stuck into the bottom of the loaf and comes out when you remove the baked bread. Depending on how you slice it, you may never notice that the paddle is stuck in the bread. If you never get around to striking the paddle with your bread knife, you may throw a half-eaten loaf away and goodbye kneading paddle.
It’s probably a good idea to always have one on hand. Here again, your manufacturer’s instruction book will have the make and model number of your machine so you can order a replacement on Amazon. They’re not terribly expensive and it’s smart to have a spare on hand. Just remember where you stored it. I have my extra paddles taped to the back of my bread machines.
